ARIELLA NAPOLI

fear my pleasure, 2023

Expanding foam, plaster, condoms, metal fixings.

Various objects ranging from 20 x 20 x 7 cm – 40 x 30 x 14 cm.

Ariella’s practice employs queer and feminist methodologies that aim to celebrate sexual expression unbound by essentialist assumptions of human experience.

These abstract sculptural works explore notions of submission/dominance, constriction/expulsion, and stricture/agency through made objects and plaster forms.

Ariella aims to physicalize societal tensions and fight for agency in her exploration of sexuality and identity. Ultimately, she seeks to bring pleasure to individuals who have been denied it, or taught to deprive themselves of it for the benefit of others.

This work was created on Kaurna Country.
